Check out the demonstration of a Hydraulic Press with Active Leveling Control (ALC). ALC is a technologically advanced system that utilizes closed loop control to monitor and compensate each corner of the press ram, keeping the press ram in parallel and reducing shock. For more information on ALC, visit Beckwood Press Company for more information.

Price, Quality and Service…Pick Two. This phrase is a “funny” tag line commonly seen on business cards, sales brochures and advertisements. It’s meant to conjure a nervous laugh at the realities of business. If you want top notch service and good quality you’re going to pay for it. If you want a cheap price you must sacrifice quality or service. And to the credit of the phrase coiner, many times he is unfortunately right!
In the book, “Jump Start Your Business Brain”, by Doug Hall, he refers to three points every business should consider about themselves. Overt Benefit or what’s in it for the customer, Reason to Believe or how you’re going to make good on your promise to the customer, and Dramatic Difference or why should the customer care.
The Overt Benefit of a custom hydraulic press is that it gives you an unfair advantage. A custom press is “tailor made” for your core needs. The guy next door using a standard hydraulic press has to make his process fit the press first and frets about what he’ll have to sacrifice to make it work.
While the custom press allows you to retain your competitive edge because you sought to pre-plan and focus on your needs…no sacrifices, the unfair advantage.
The Real Reason to Believe is the ability to say what you’re going to do and then do it. The result is confidence, credibility and trust. When you put your future earnings potential into the hands of another, you should confidently be able to say you trust what they have claimed is accurate and achievable.
Partnering with someone who has the expertise to “pull it off” and who cares about your bottom line just as much as their own is crucial. When those things are true you have real reason to believe.
The Dramatic Difference is a result of total value. What sets you apart from the crowd? What can you do for the customer that has meaning and purpose and caters to their future needs?
There are many places one can go and buy a hydraulic press at a fair price, and it will work fine for your application, but is it the best total value? Is there anything you left on the table that you could have captured? Were the right questions asked to make sure the press meets your needs now and in the future?
That’s the dramatic difference between a manufacturer that can give you a real reason to believe, an overt benefit and will go the extra mile compared to one who just wants to sell you something.
When those three principals are allowed to influence your business, no longer do your customers have to only “pick two”. Price, Quality and Service benefits are like a three legged stool. It’s much easier to rest on three legs than to wobble only on two.
A hydraulic press is a press machine that uses hydraulic pressure, or fluid pressure, in order to exert force on an object. This Blog discusses hydraulic press applications, industry news and terms while breaking down issues in manufacturing and new hydraulic press technology.
The hydraulic press continues to be the press of choice for today’s modern manufacturers. The advantages of the hydraulic press versus mechanical presses is being realized and utilized by more and more manufacturers.
Today’s modern hydraulic presses provide; Performance, Reliability, and Unlimited Capability in almost any application. Stamping, Punching, Blanking, Drawing, Bending… All standard press designs and circuits can be configured to match even the most non-standard press requirements.
A hydraulic press is powered by a hydraulic pump to a hydraulic cylinder or cylinders that drive the slide. Hydraulic presses allow for job parameters such as travel distance, force and return position to be easily configured for a variety of jobs within a single press.
Various levels of sophistication are available from simple mechanical switches to digitally programmable control. This flexibility yields a hydraulic press’s greatest advantage.
